First images of the Citroen DS4

Citroen has published today the first official photos and information, about the DS4, the second representative of the DS range. The DS4 is a compact coupe-hatchback that promises to revolutionize the market. The big surprise is coming for those who claim that the new Citroen DS4 will be exclusively Coupe: the French model has five doors, only that the door handles are hidden, like Alfa Romeo or Seat style.

Another interesting surprise comes from the analysis of the exterior dimensions of the model. Thus, although the length clearly recommends it as a compact (4.27 meters), the height is much higher than a compact hatchback class. Citroen wanted the DS4 to be a compact model with sporting lines and adapted it into a compact crossover. The name apparently strange of the concept from which the DS4 was developed, High Rider, is reflected in the final form of the French model.

Citroen is not coming with great surprises when it comes to the engines. Thus, the fans of the Citroen will have three petrol units (1.6 VTi with120 HP, 1.6 THP with 155 HP and 1.6 THP with 200 HP) and two HDi diesel engines, one with 110 HP and the other with 160 HP

Nissan started the production of the Juke crossover

Nissan announced that the Japanese factory from Sunderland began assembling the urban crossover Juke. The British factory will be the one that will produce the Juke models for the European market. The production rate of the model will be 100.000 units per year. According to the Japanese company, the Nissan Juke gathered 22.500 pre-orders since June.

To facilitate the production of Juke at Sunderland, Nissan invested in the British factory 57 million pounds of which 6.2 million came from the British government as an investment grant. The decision to produce the Nissan Juke in Sunderland has provided 1.100 jobs in the factory and other 2000 jobs in the Nissan suppliers.

The prices of the urban crossover from Nissan have not been announced yet.

BMW could launch X3 M, X35is and X4

The German car manufacturer wants to launch three new models. According to unofficial sources, the Bavarians will produce a version of X6, that will be named X4, and two sport versions of X3, called X3 M and X35is. A future X4 model will address the public who wants a sport car with a high position at the wheel and will focus more on performance.

The future BMW X35is will be powered by an 3.0 liter engine with six-cylinder and 322 HP and 450 Nm. Most likely, the power will be transmitted to wheels through a gearbox with double-clutch seven-speed, or a manual transmission with six reports. The BMW X35is maximum speed will be limited to 250 km/h and the sprint from 0-100 km/h will be completed in about five seconds.

The BMW X3 M could hide under the hood the unit that will power the future 1 Series Coupe. The sport version of the German SUV could benefit form a improved version of the 3 liter engine that will reach 350 HP. BMW X3 M and BMW X35is will have a reinforced chassis and suspension and improved brakes.

Jaguar XJ75 Platinum Concept

Jaguar unveiled at the Elegance Contest at Peeble Beah a concept version of the XJ sedan, heavily modified, for the American market. The limited edition is called Platinum XJ75 Concept and was created to celebrate the 75 years of the English car manufacturer.

The Jaguar designers have revised the exterior of the XJ, opting for a range of sporting accessories: a redesigned front spoiler with extension, larger air vents, side skirts and a new rear bumper deflector incorporated. The black chrome elements are in contrast with with the Satin Matte Pearlescent paint of the body. The aesthetic package is complemented by the 22-inch alloys, also black. Inside, the LED lights and the purple finishes give an individualized look of the interior, along with the Bremont clock built into the central console.

The Jaguar XJ75 Platinum Concept will be powered by an V8 with 5 liter supercharged engine, able to develop a total of 470 horsepower and 575 Nm.

Skoda will launch the new low cost model in Moscow

Skoda has taken seriously the debut on low-cost segment, currently dominated by the Dacia Logan. The Czech engineers worked very hard and completed the development of a new model that will rival the Romanian model.

The new Skoda low cost model will be launched at the Moscow Motor Show at the end of this month. Skoda wants to launch the new model in Moscow because is trying to reaffirm its interest in the Russian market.

The new Skoda Sedan is based on the new Volkswagen Polo sedan and will replace the current Skoda Octavia Tour on some markets. The new Skoda Sedan will be available with engines of 1.4 and 1.6 liter on gasoline, but also with the 1.6 liter TDI diesel.

The list of safety features will be quite poor, and the equipment will remain modest. Skoda relies on providing an interior space sufficiently large with a total length of 4.5 meters, and the reliability that has become a tradition for the Czech brand.
The new Škoda Sedan low cost could get the Felicia name, after Skoda abandoned it several years ago.

Renault will launch the new Twingo facelift in the spring of 2011

The French car manufacturer, Renault, will operate a facelift on the Twingo model in the spring of 2011, that will be presented at the Geneva Auto Motor Show and that will use a new philosophy of design inspired by the DeZir concept.

Laurens van den Acker’s arrival at the Renault’s design department, will change the philosophy of the models currently produced by the French car manufacturer. The next year, Van den Acker wants to present to the public a more aggressive Twingo, that will benefit from a well-deserved facelift. The small urban model will receive the influence of the designer that will try to revive the sales and to address new European markets.

The new Twingo will be launched in the Auto Motor Show in Geneva, and will be followed by the Megane model that will receive a some aesthetic revisions at the end of the next year.

The 91 concept car from Saab

Awaiting an official answer from the new leaders of the Trollhattan car manufacturer, the Saab fans selected an artist to draw the new 91 concept. The fans formed a group on Facebook, entitled Saab 91 Petition and Support Group. The fans hope that Saab will consider their proposals and will build a model close to the the one they created.

Saab 91 should become the rival of Mini Cooper on the premium class of the B segment. The concept has a length of 3870 mm, a height of 1420 mm and 1700 mm wide. The appearance will avoid anything retro and will be an interpretation of the current design of the Swedish brand, and will be inspired by the Aero X and the  BioHybrid concepts. The anti-retro trend in the premium segment of the B class is presented also by the Citroen DS3, but the concept made by Fabio Ferrante is even more aggressive than the French model.

Saab has expressed the interest in producing a new B class model, which means that the fans could expect at least three years until they can drive a new model by the Swedish brand.

The 35 finalist of the European Car of the Year 2011 Award

The most important European car competition, the European Car of the Year, has announced the list of the 35 models that will enter the battle for the big prize in this autumn.

To be eligible for the Car of the Year award, a car must be launched in Europe during 2010 and appear on at least two continents until June 2011.

In this year finalists list, the best represented car manufacturers are Citroen and Nissan with three models each (C3, C4 and DS3, respectively Juke, Leaf and Micra). Renault with the Wind is also on the list along with the first Romanian SUV manufactured by Dacia, The Duster.

BMW X6 Performance Unlimited

The German car manufacturer, BMW, launched in Japan a special edition of the X6 model called Performance Unlimited. The special edition is dedicated to the Japan market and will be produced only in 20 units. The aerodynamic package of the new BMW X6 Performance Unlimited includes a redesigned front bumper, new side skirts and a new rear diffuser.

Also, the German manufacturer has chosen for this special edition  a unique version of alloy wheels of 21-inch. The BMW Performance Unlimited X6 body has a special silver-pearl color and an has a Nevada leather upholstery that matches with the interior aluminum elements.

The BMW X6 Performance Unlimited has twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine capable of producing 306 HP and develop a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The special edition of the  Bavarian model will cost the equivalent of 86.000 euros.
