BMW And Volkswagen Reduce Hours For 86,000 Workers
The economical crisis is hitting very hard in the hearts of all big auto manufacturers. Due to the decrease of the demand for vehicles, BMW and Volkswagen announced today that they will reduce the working schedule for 86,000 workers.
In 2008 the main auto markets in the world: US and Germany had their worst year because their deliveries dropped down by 3 percent, respectively 18 percent.
That’s why BMW decided to drop shifts for 26,000 workers in Dingolfing and Regensburg factories for the next two months. This means that the company will produce with 10% less cars than before. Also, the company will reduce the production for the 3 and 7 Series by 38,000 units.
Now, about Volkswagen, between February 23 and 27 they will close the following German factories: Emden, Wolfsburg, Zwickau, Hanover and Dresden. As a result the output of Phaeton, Passat and Golf models will be reduces.
