After Citroen presented at the last motor shows at least two or three interesting concepts, the prototype Metropolis – brought to Geneva after being launched earlier in Beijing – came to the show to present the new French car manufacturer spectacular design. And its spectacular lines have succeeded, indeed, to attract journalists to the Citroen stand.

The Citroen Metropolis Concept is based on the same platform as the C6. The Metropolis Concept has a length of 5.3 meters, but the reduced height of this concept provides an extremely aggressive held. The Citroen Metropolis has a hybrid propulsion that is provided by a V6 engine of 272 HP and 375 Nm, assisted by an electric motor that can provide up to 95 HP. According to the international media, the Metropolis concept could be the basis for the future DS9, a sports model of Citroen.

Citroen has published today the first official photos and information, about the DS4, the second representative of the DS range. The DS4 is a compact coupe-hatchback that promises to revolutionize the market. The big surprise is coming for those who claim that the new Citroen DS4 will be exclusively Coupe: the French model has five doors, only that the door handles are hidden, like Alfa Romeo or Seat style.

Another interesting surprise comes from the analysis of the exterior dimensions of the model. Thus, although the length clearly recommends it as a compact (4.27 meters), the height is much higher than a compact hatchback class. Citroen wanted the DS4 to be a compact model with sporting lines and adapted it into a compact crossover. The name apparently strange of the concept from which the DS4 was developed, High Rider, is reflected in the final form of the French model.

Citroen is not coming with great surprises when it comes to the engines. Thus, the fans of the Citroen will have three petrol units (1.6 VTi with120 HP, 1.6 THP with 155 HP and 1.6 THP with 200 HP) and two HDi diesel engines, one with 110 HP and the other with 160 HP

Citroen will try to take advantage from the investments made in the new DS range and will try to satisfy the customers in the premium segment. For this, the French, will need a wide range of offers, not just the current DS3 and a convertible version of the hatchback is already considered.

Intended to be a rival for the current Mini convertible, a future Citroen DS3 convertible would adopt a retractable fabric roof, a much cheaper and more convenient solution. The range of engines will be three petrol units and two diesels units. The top version will offer 150 HP, but its performance will be somewhat weaker than the version with fixed roof, because of the higher total mass.

A future Citroen DS3 convertible would be launched no sooner than 2012 and will be more expensive than the coupe version, the starting price will be around 3.000 euro higher.

Citroen has released a new concept specially created for GQ.

GQ, the UK’s leading monthly men’s magazine, presents the new GQbyCITROËN concept. Besides the great color, the cabin of the car, accessed by rear-hinged coach doors, features a futuristic yet style, with detailing and upholstery selected by Patrick Grant, the creative director for E. Tautz, a men’s tailor found in the prestigious Savile Row in London. GQbyCITROËN is purely a concept car and the mechanical details are slim. Citroën says that the car has both a plug-in hybrid system as well as a 1.6-liter inline-four with direct injection, which achieves a 0-60 time of just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited, of course). Seems a bit far-fetched, but no matter, because we doubt a production version will ever see the light of day. The car will be presented in the April number of the magazine.

Well well, what do we have here? It seems Citroen will kick some serious hiney, especially in the States with their new car, the C3 Picasso. We will be treated with seeing it in wheels and steel in October at the Paris Motor Show.
Citroen pulled some serious clever stunts with the Picasso, for example with a three-part windscreen which help kill the blind spots. Also we will get a tall glasshouse and a glass roof, all resulting in a very interesting and comfortable and spacy cabin. Nothing useless will be on the C3 Picasso.
Not even the engines, which will come in 2 versions, one with 95 hp and the other 120 hp. It won’t be fast but who needs to go fast when the world is so big and pretty and there are so many things to do and see?
