The Alpha-2 will be equipped with two electric motors, offering a total of 375 HP and 800 Nm. With a powerful drive train, the Alpha-2 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 230 km/h. Although the engine delivers 375 HP maximum power, the continuous power is 187 HP.

The autonomy of the e-Wolf Alpha-2 is up to 300 kilometers on a single charge. The time load was not revealed, but is expect to be less than ten hours. It is possible that the model will be offered with a quick charger, but the Germans from e-Wolf did not give any details about it.

The cheapest Alpha-2 will cost 245,000 euros. The German electric car manufacturer has already a rich portfolio of such models, offering both electric scooters and transport or competition vehicles.

Nissan Leaf has become the most successful model launched in 2010 in the world after the Nissan electric model won the World Car of the Year title. Thus, Nissan Leaf has become one of the few models that won the two most important awards given by the auto industry, the European Car of the Year and the World Car of the Year.

The prize has been awarded to the Nissan officials at the New York Auto Show, the Japanese model surpassed in the final the Audi A8 and the BMW 5 Series.

“It’s a tremendous joy to us that the first electric vehicle sold worldwide, the Nissan Leaf, won the prestigious World Car of the Year. This distinction recognizes the Leaf as a pioneer of zero mobility, one comparable in performance, noise level and handling chapters to the gasoline cars, ” said Carlos Ghosn, the Renault-Nissan president.

The jury was composed of 66 top journalists elected from the 24 more representative markets. Each of the jurors was eligible to participate in this jury after a professional analysis of the expertise, experience, credibility and influence that they have in their country.

The Ingolstadt car manufacturer has released the first images and technical details of the concept A3 e-tron, the newest member of the family of electric models.

The prototype with zero-emission is based on the standard version of the A3 Sportback, but equipped with a fully electric drivetrain. The A3 e-tron’s heart is an engine of 136 HP and 270 Nm of torque, connected to an automatic transmission with one gear. The resources are submitted only the front axle and can propel the compact model from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.2 seconds.

Although electric unit totals only 65 kg, the total mass of the prototype is affected by the weight of the battery pack, located under the trunk and under rear seats. The lithium-ion support weighs 300 kg and reduce the size of the trunk that will be just 265 liters.

The new Audi A3 e-tron offers three different ways of driving: normal, efficient and dynamic. For those who choose the dynamic function, the autonomy is reduced. For those who choose the efficient function, the A3 e-tron provides a maximum autonomy of 140 kilometers.

To fully charge the batteries you need nine hours, when using a convention 230V outlet, or four hours when using a 400V outlet.

The Fisker officials have announced that the production of the new Karma began at their factory in Finland. The factory is located in Uusikaupunki and will serve both European and North American markets. According to the Fisker officials, the first deliveries of the Karma model will take place next month. The production is carried out by Valmet, who are manufacturing vehicles for Porsche AG. In 2011, the Fisker plans to deliver at least 7,000 units.

“We will increase very slowly the production to ensure the quality. This year we want to deliver over 7,000 units, ” declared Roger Ormisher, the spokesman of Fisker Cars.

Fisker Karma is a performance hybrid that can be charged at an electrical outlet. The Fisker Karma has two 201 HP electric motors powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery and a 2.0-liter Ecotec engine with direct injection and a turbocharger. The internal combustion engine develops 260 HP and can “play” the role of the power generator for the two electric motors and the battery. Fisker Karma wants to be the first luxury hybrid model that can be charged from an electrical outlet.

The starting price of the Fisker Karma in the U.S is 87,900 dollars.

After announcing that it will present at the Geneva Motor Show the Yaris Hybrid Synergy Drive concept, intended to prepare the public for a hybrid version of the small class model, Toyota decided to take advantage of Swiss Motor Show exposure.

Toyota will unveil a version of the concept FT-EV II, that will be a base to a popular eco version of the iQ model. The speculation in recent months and sources inside Toyota, support an electric version of the iQ, ready to meet the demands of the urban public, who needs a relatively small range for everyday use.

The pre-production model that will be presented in Geneva, comes with an electric drive, powered by a lithium-ion battery pack located under the floor. According to the first information, the resources stored in the battery pack will be sufficient to provide a range of 105 kilometers.

The Japanese manufacturer hopes that the final version of the new Toyota iQ electric will be ready for debut in late 2011, and the sale of the first models is scheduled for the spring 2012.

The officials of the Think car manufacturer have announced that will offer a four seats version for the City model. The new model will be based on the City and will benefit from air conditioning as standard and a five years or 96,000 miles warranty. According to the head of the marketing at Think, the adding of two additional seats makes City one of the most attractive electric vehicle on the market.

According to the Think officials, the City model has a range of 160 kilometers on a single charge. The only country where it is available is Norway, but it will be launched on other markets from 2011. The two rear seats are equipped with three-point seatbelts and ISOFIX support. The trunk capacity is zero when the rear seats are used.

Thanks to a modular solution for locating the seat, the new Think City will allow individual folding of the rear seats or the folding of the both rear seats. On the aesthetic level, the model remains unchanged. The maximum speed of Think City is 105 km/h.

Following the example of the Smart, who is planning to launch an electric version of the Fortwo model, Toyota is also planning to launch on the European market an alternative model with zero CO2 emission of the iQ model. The Asian small model will reach the European Continent in 2012, not long after the rivals from Stuttgart.

With the launch of the alternative power, Toyota will launch a series of safety improvements to the passive safety level. Under the hood will be an electric engine with minimum performance, capable of delivering a range of 100 kilometers, thanks to a new generation of batteries that the Japanese manufacturer is developing beyond the current lithium-ion versions.

The first tests will start running next year, on the future markets where the iQ electric will be sold. With the introduction of the electric model with zero emissions on the European continent, Toyota will launch the same version in the U.S. and in Japan.

Moreover, if the Japanese officials will agree, the model could be sold to the Chinese market, where the audience becomes a growing appetite for electric vehicles.
