Mitsubishi presented the Global Small concept at the Geneva Motor Show. The Global Small concept will be the successor of the Colt and its production version will debut in March 2012. The Japanese officials have indicated that the new generation of Colt will be smaller and that the small size is, the essence of the B segment cars. Colt will not be deprived of the space and the practical elements of the present generation with the onset future model.

The debut of the new generation of Mitsubishi Colt will be held this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The model will be a global one, and will be sold in the same form on all major markets. The current Colt was sold under a different strategy, being sold in the same form in all markets, but not having the same technical solutions in all markets where it was introduced.

Under the hood of the new Mitsubishi Global Small will be 1 liter and 1.2-liter engines, assisted in some cases by a CVT type automatic transmission. The Start / Stop system and the recovery of kinetic energy lost during braking will reduce the CO2 emissions of the next generation of Colt, which will range between 90 and 100 grams per kilometer.

Mitsubishi could launch in the near future a more powerful version for the Outlander SUV. The diesel version will certainly derive from the 2.2 liters DI-D engine, with PSA origin, that can develop 156 HP.

The new version would be able to develop 177 HP, but it is not clear if the more powerful Mitsubishi Outlander will be sold in all markets that the Japanese car manufacturer is operating. The unit will be launched together with a start-stop system, designed to reduce consumption, despite the increase of the SUV power.

The new Mitsubishi Outlander will register a decrease in the value of the CO2 emissions from 185 to 158 g/km and will be available in the 4 x2 or the 4 x 4 versions.

Mitsubishi is presenting the teaser sketch of the new production of Concept-CX crossover. It looks amazing.

For two years now Mitsubishi presented the teaser sketch of the new production of Concept-CX crossover that they announced at 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. This all-new compact CUV looks really good and it is aiming at the segment filled by Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. The Compact Crossover will be built a top Mitsubishi’s new mid-size global architecture with power likely provided by a 1.8-liter turbodiesel channeling around 140 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque through Mitsubishi’s Twin-Clutch SST gearbox and all-wheel drive system. It also seems that sales will start in February, in Japan and a petrol powered version will be released in the States in 2010.

For 2009 Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (MEC) is planning to offer a 1 DIN Blu-ray DVD player. This Linux-enabled unit is 1/3 smaller than a classic Blu-ray player but even so it’s bigger than the standard dash slot. Apparently it will play nice with in-car navigation systems and will be Windows friendly because Microsoft is in charged with the navigation software.

The device will be able to play BD-RE, BD-R and BD-ROM discs and will be bundled to a TV tuner. This latter will display digital terrestrial broadcasts at almost 120 mph.

Stay tuned for more information.
