Nissan Leaf has become the most successful model launched in 2010 in the world after the Nissan electric model won the World Car of the Year title. Thus, Nissan Leaf has become one of the few models that won the two most important awards given by the auto industry, the European Car of the Year and the World Car of the Year.

The prize has been awarded to the Nissan officials at the New York Auto Show, the Japanese model surpassed in the final the Audi A8 and the BMW 5 Series.

“It’s a tremendous joy to us that the first electric vehicle sold worldwide, the Nissan Leaf, won the prestigious World Car of the Year. This distinction recognizes the Leaf as a pioneer of zero mobility, one comparable in performance, noise level and handling chapters to the gasoline cars, ” said Carlos Ghosn, the Renault-Nissan president.

The jury was composed of 66 top journalists elected from the 24 more representative markets. Each of the jurors was eligible to participate in this jury after a professional analysis of the expertise, experience, credibility and influence that they have in their country.

The secondary categories of the 2011 Edition of the World Car of the Year ware won by Ferrari 458 Italy (World Performance Car), Aston Martin Rapide (World Car Design of the Year) and the Chevrolet Volt (who received the consolation prize for Green Car of the Year ).

The Japanese from Nissan want to attract more customers for electric vehicles and will present a new futuristic concept. This time, it is about a two-seater sports model, which promises an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. To provide this level of performance, the Nissan ESFLOW concept is equipped with two electric motor, but their power has not been disclosed.

The new concept will debut at the Geneva Motor Show, but the Japanese have not announced whether they will introduce this model into production in the coming years. However, the Nissan officials have indicated very clearly that we are talking about a zero emissions vehicle, designed from the start for electric propulsion, and that it is not an adaptation from an internal combustion engine. This means that Nissan wants to develop a sports electric car in the coming years, which could be a possible successor to the 370Z.

The Nissan ESFLOW concept has a protective cage built into the resistance structure and also has rim carbon fiber inserts. Both front and rear lighting concept has blocks with blue LEDs. The Nissan designers have prepared a futuristic appearance of the concept, but it is unclear what features will go into production.

A couple of months ago Nissan announced the 40th anniversary model, the great looking 370Z mode. This photo that we got is confirming the car’s arrival, at Chicago Auto Show. Now they are releasing the special edition for the European market. Europe’s 370Z Black Edition celebrates Nissan Z, and has many of the same features that distinguish its Yankee brother. It comes with beautiful darkened 19-inch Rays wheels, red brake calipers, red leather interior, some special badges and much more. The only difference is that in Europe you can get a second exterior color: while the American version can only be had in “quartz” dark grey. In Europe you can get it in full black. There are 370 examples will begin distribution in April, after Geneva Show, for £33,645 (~$53k) price tag in the UK.

Nissan Z will celebrates the 40 year anniversary and launches Zed. The design is amazing!

On October 22 Nissan Z will celebrate the 40 year anniversary. Before Nissan launched Zed the cars in US were relatively fragile and coming from Europe. But when Datsun 240Z showed up, Americans got a fair price, a good looking sports car and with great capabilities. The Z badge lives on today and in order to celebrate its anniversary, Nissan is releasing the 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition. Here are some of the details: 40th Quartz paint, “high-luster” smoke 19-inch Rays wheels, red brake calipers and 40th anniversary badges on both the rear hatch and front strut tower brace. Inside the car you will see smooth red leather, 40th anniversary embroidered seats and floor mats, red leather stitching up the center stack and also a commemorative plaque. All under a satin cover which will come off in almost a week.
