Vauxhall’s Limited-Edition VX Racing Corsa And Astra

Applause for Fabrizio Giovanardi of the VX Racing because in 2008 he managed to win no less than three golden trophies (manufacturer, team and driver) at the BRCC – British Touring Car Championship. That’s probably why Vauxhall decided to release on the market 888 Corsa and Astra VX Racing Editions celebrating last year’s success.

Each vehicle is painted in black and red (team’s colors) and features logos on the B-pillars and sill plates, a tinted rear window, a black rear diffuser, black door trim, mirror covers and Recaro seats. Also, the Corsa runs on 18-inch boots while the Astra uses 19-inch radials.

The price? Well… the Corsa will set you back £17,425 (around $25,000) and the Astra will be available with a £21,445 (around $30,700) price tag.

Opel recently announced on the market the Astra ecoFLEX line-up and now it’s time for Corsa ecoFLEX to unveil its new specs.

The producer did some tricks under the hood of the car and added a few extra upgrades to the 75 hp 1.3 liter diesel engine: longer transmission gear ratio, 20 mm lowered suspensing, better aerodynamics, 14 inch wheels and revised air intakes.

Now, the car boasts with 57.4 mpg (4.1 liters/100 km) and 109 g/km CO2 emissions and will be available with a 5 speed manual transmission.

If you think about getting a eco-car then this may be the best option for you and your family.

The New 2009 Opel Astra

A few photos of the new Opel Astra running on the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam have leaked on the Internet. If you check them out closely you’ll notice a complete new prototype with curvy lines and a sporty look. The car will be available on several versions: three or five doors, station wagon, cabriolet and sedan, all of them using the GM’s Delta platform.

The car will be geared up with the same engine range and a new 1.4 litre turbocharged that will provide an 8% improvement in fuel consumption.

The car will be officially released at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and will be available for customers in the US as a Saturn and in Australia as a Holden.

This elegant car has a robust and coupe design and will be available in 2 versions: 5- and 5-door hatchback.

Opel Insignia will hit the Western European markets but for now we have no information on pricing.

Before this year is over, you will find the car in showrooms across Europe. You can choose between 7 engines and four wheel drive versions.

Opel Astra Gets To The 10 Million Mark

Launched 17 years ago, in 1991, the Opel Astra replaced at that time the Opel Kadett model. Now, it’s the model with the most success of all the Opel cars, and it’s produced in 10 different factories all over the world, in countries like Belgium, UK, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia and Brazil.

And now, Opel announced that the 10 millionth Astra was built at the Bochum auto plant in Germany. The 10 million car was a Silver Lightning Astra Station Wagon 1.7 CDTI. The current generation sold over 1.9 million cars since 2004.
