Peugeot 508 ready to be launched

The new Peugeot 508 will be launched at the Paris Auto Motor Show this autumn. The Peugeot 508 will be available in a hybrid version which will be powered by a diesel engine. The hybrid version of 508 will have a 2.0 liter diesel engine that develops 160 HP, which will be assisted by an electric engine located in the rear side. The two engines will provide a fuel consumption at the level of a Toyota Prius although the Peugeot 508 has dimensions similar with a BMW 5 series. The Peugeot 508 hybrid is expected to be launched in 2012.

The design of the new model will be heavily inspired from the 508 concept including square grille, the special front lights and the hood. The dimensions of the Peugeot 508 follow the concept line, which has a length of 4800 mm. The reason for this choice lies in the fact that the 508 should replace both the 407 and the 607. The Peugeot 508 will have a 3.0 liter V6 petrol engine that develops 240 HP or a 1.6 liter turbo engine with 156 HP. All the engines will have Euro5 standards which means that the 2.2 liters engine will be removed from the range, but its replacement was not announced yet.

Peugeot announces the new 308 GTi

Peugeot has officially announced today the come back in the hatchback segment with the new version GTi of the 308 model. The new model promises exciting performance and economic characteristics and will become one important option for those those who want a sporty hatchback.

The new Peugeot 308 GTi will be powered by an 1.6 liters THP engine that develops 200 HP, which puts the French model in second place in the hatchback segment, behind Volkswagen Golf GTi (211 HP). The engine is an absolute novelty and was released a few months ago on new coupe of Peugeot, the RCZ.

According to technical data provided by the manufacturer, the new 308 GTi hits 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, while the maximum speed is 237 km/h. The most interesting figures of The Peugeot 308 GTi, however, are those related to consumption: 6.9 liters/100 km in mixed consumption (9.2 liters urban and 5.5 liters extra urban), and the CO2 emissions are at a level of 159 g/km.

Some people say that the name is quite ridiculous: “5 by Peugeot”. Truth is the machine is inspired by sedan models and it is a competition for Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insignia. It has 191.3 inches in length and 74 inches in width, with a wheelbase of 110 inches. This new Peugeot is rather staid looking compared to the other previous models. The fascia looks production ready and the massive front air dam looks great. The car has taillights that stretch into the rear quarter panels, an Insignia-esque trunk and dual exhausts. 5 by Peugeot comes with a 163 horsepower 2.0-liter HDi FAP diesel which, combined with a rear-mounted, 37-hp electric motor, brings output up to 200 hp. The system, dubbed Hybrid4, will give it the possibility to run on electricity alone for an unspecified range. The new car will be seen at Geneva Show.

New 3008 Crossover From Peugeot

I guess you’re all aware of Nissan’s success with its Qahqai model. Motivated by this, Peugeot is currently working to release on the market a better car – the new 3008 crossover.

This new car will borrow the Prologue concept and will be codenamed T84.

The two-wheel-drive 3008 will hit the show rooms in 2009 and will prepare the market for the AWD version scheduled for 2011. The former will come equipped with diesel and petrol engines while the latter will use a hybrid powertrain powered by 197hp that will deliver 109g/km of CO2 emissions.

According to some people the car will welcome its buyers with a £1,000 (around $1,500) price tag.

2009 Peugeot 407

The new Peugeot 4007 will be officially introduced on the market in UK starting this September. The vehicle will set you back £17,295 but you won’t be sorry because it is a stylish car with new front grille and rear bumper, door mirrors, body-colored rubbing strips and door handles.

Starting this November a 2.0 liter “Bioflex” has been added to the previous engines and it operates on E85 fuel. Also the 2.0 liter HDi was improved and now it can produce 140hp.

The 2009 Peugeot 407 will be available in Thorium Grey, Moroccan Red, Abyss Blue, Moondust, and Hurricane Grey colors in four equipment levels: S, SR, SE and GT.
