For the Swedish car manufacturer Saab, the Geneva Motor Show is the place of the rebirth in terms of design and presence in the automotive world. The most important novelty of the Swedes is the Phoenix concept, that present us the lines that we will find the future Saab models. The concept is impressing by the body lines, and by implementing the IQon new technologies.

Another surprise is prepared by Saab for the families and is represented by the debut of the 9-5 SportCombi that is intended as a premium wagon built in the Trollhattan manufacturer style. The new 9-5 SportCombi is a big step for Saab and the aim is to attract attention of the wagon customers.

The Aero version of the 9-4X is equipped with a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 engine that develops 300 HP and 400 Nm. The maximum torque is delivered between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm and allows the 9-4X model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. There is no information about any diesel version of the model, the engine preferred by the European public. The 9-4X receiving an adaptive chassis, which offers three settings: Intelligent, Comfort and Sport. The engine has an additional mode, called Eco. The Eco mode is activated by a separate button that recalibrates the response from the accelerator pedal to provide the lowest possible fuel consumption.

The adaptive chassis of the Saab 9-4X is linked to the Saab DriveSense system. This system allows you to adjust the steering and the suspension. In the standard equipment the 9-4X model benefits from a system with bi-xenon adaptive headlamps, which provides active cornering light. Among the technical aspects of the 9-4X are included also the limited-slip rear differential and the electronically controlled all-wheel drive system with torque variation which adjusts the ratio of torque received from the front and rear axle. All these elements should confer the title of leader for the Saab 9-4X in the crossover segment in terms of maneuverability.

Saab 91 should become the rival of Mini Cooper on the premium class of the B segment. The concept has a length of 3870 mm, a height of 1420 mm and 1700 mm wide. The appearance will avoid anything retro and will be an interpretation of the current design of the Swedish brand, and will be inspired by the Aero X and the  BioHybrid concepts. The anti-retro trend in the premium segment of the B class is presented also by the Citroen DS3, but the concept made by Fabio Ferrante is even more aggressive than the French model.

Saab has expressed the interest in producing a new B class model, which means that the fans could expect at least three years until they can drive a new model by the Swedish brand.

The sport car comes equipped with a 1.4 liter BioPower turbo engine optimized for E85 fuel (85% biothanol/15% gasoline) and offering 200 hp (147 kW) and 280 Nm (207 lb.ft) of torque. This powerful engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with an automatic clutch.

9-X Air is a new concept from Saab but no one knows if it will really hit mass production. Let’s hope for the best.
