Volvo Universe concept prefigures the future S80

Volvo Universe concept presented at this year’s Shanghai Motor Show,prefigures the next-generation of the S80 model. With the debut model, the first rumors suggested a future S90 but the Volvo officials have denied this hypothesis. Instead, they have revealed new information about the S80 range, which will cost $ 11 billion, a sum that includes the construction of two factories in China until 2013. The new factories will be built in Chengdu and Daqing and will help the Swedish car manufacturer to sell 200,000 units per year by 2015.

“The Volvo Universe concept gives the public an idea of ??what our fans would expect from a future top of the range sedan. As for the luxury items, the design concept is durable enough to last. We will compete with the best in the segment through a special approach of the Scandinavian design. It does not have rivals in performance and technology chapters and the superficiality is not an option, “said Volvo officials in the press release accompanying the official pictures of the Universe concept.

The most interesting element of the Universe concept is the door opening system: the designers have opted for a reverse-opening doors system. The front side was also changed dramatically, and has a large logo and a set of futuristic-looking optical-blocks units. The back is reminiscent of several premium models currently offered on the market, a sign that the designers want to steal customers not only with the appearance, but also with the dynamic features of the model.

Volvo is ready to deliver the first units C30 electric

The Swedes from Volvo have announced that they manufactured the first units of C30 BEV and that deliveries will begin soon. The project of electric vehicles of Volvo Cars includes 250 units, and the first 10 units are ready and can get to Goteborg Energy by the end of the autumn.

According to the Volvo experts, 90% of European commuters could also use an electric vehicle every day. If Volvo C30 BEV is charged only with energy from renewable sources, the model would emit zero grams of CO2 over its usage. Therefore, Volvo is working with an electricity generating company to find ways to improve this model.

Volvo BEV C30 is equipped with a single electric engine that engages the front wheels and is set in the place of the internal combustion engine. The model has a maximum speed of 130 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km in 10.5 seconds. The autonomy of this model is 150 kilometers under a full load. The charging is from the AC outlet and takes about eight hours.

Volvo 2011 C30 is one much expected car. The design is special and so are the features. Many people were wondering about the price and the manufacturer has decided to release the pricing. The stylish car design, however shaky may be. For the US market, exclusively the new car will cost about $24,600 (plus *$850 for destination and delivery charges). The Swedish hatch has a 227 horsepower inline-five hooked to a six-speed manual. The best part are the suspension tweaks.If you want this package you will pay about $26,950 (plus $850 D&D) which is not so much compared to the features of the car.

Another Frankfurt Motor Show preview emerges as Volvo is presenting the C30 hatchback. This is the first official photo of the car and came with the press release. The car will be available in “flesh and engine parts” at the motor Show. The design is focused on the front area and rear fascias. We can also notice some small mirror modifications. In front, there is an interesting mixture of sharp angles and creases join organic shapes. At the rear, the brand name is spelled out in larger script. Besides a new design, the 2010 C30 has a ray of new color options, including an Espresso/Blond interior combination.

Autocar says that Volvo confirmed their C30 all-electric car debut at the soon to come Frankfurt Motor Show. Last week the firs rumors about this car were heard and now we have a confirmation. The magazine says they have an anonymus source at Volvo that says the electric car will be present at the show and somebody will also drive it. Right now the all-electric C30 is only a concept and there are no real plans made to be put into production. Besides the C30, Volvo has also stated that they are creating a hybrid version for the V70 wagon which will be presented to te world in 2012.

Besides the 3.0-liter T6 turbocharged model, Volvo brings the less expensive and brand new 3.2-liter model of the 2010 XC60.

This amazing car has a price that starts, for the front-wheel drive version, at $32,395. For the AWD model the smallest price is $34,395 (*plus $850 – destination charges).

The inline six is just like the one from the S80, with a six-speed gearbox that is automatic. The standard features of this great looking car include fog lamps, dual-zone climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels and also auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Other standard features are eight speakers stereo, a six month subscription to Sirius and a HD radio.

The Swedish XC60 is recognized to be the safest Volvo ever created and it has “City Safety” automatic braking. This safe car also has anti-rollover control and many other safety proof features. It all depends on the pricing.

1. The name ” Volvo” comes from the Latin verb “volvere” (to twist, to spin) and was recorded in 1915. The mark Volvo had to appear on the label of some bearing balls manufactured for the United States market but they were never put on sale. The fist product that appeared under the mark of Volvo was a car.

2. The first Volvo model has been produced by Assar Gabrielson and Gustav Larsson on 14 April 1927, in a small factory in Goteborg. The model was named OV4 and Volvo sold 297 cars in its first year. The nickname of the first model produced by the two Swedes was “Jakob”.

3. The purpose of the two Swedish engineers was to produce a car that would last to the poor Swedish roads and the low temperatures of Scandinavian winters.

4. A Volvo engineer developed one of the most popular inventions in the history of the automobile. It is Nils Bohlin and safety belt attached in three points, invented in 1958. A year later, all Volvo models already benefiting from this type of belt. The safety belt developed by Bohlin is used today on all car models.

Volvo is getting ready to announce a new eco-friendly vehicle that will join the DRIVe trio of ultra-efficient diesel-powered models on the market. According to some rumors, this new highly-efficient car will helps us all breathe cleaner air because it will comply with all current emissions regulations.

This all-new micro-hybrid vehicle will hit the stores in 2011 and will offer a choice between gasoline or diesel power and a manual or automatic transmission. Also it will boast with fuel-saving technology that will cut the consumption by 5% thanks to its brake-energy regeneration and start-stop system.

If everything goes according to plan Volvo will release an electric powered full hybrid in 2012 and a plug-in electric afterwards.
