Volkswagen takes an idea from Porsche and announced a special edition Black Turbo of the latest model in the range, the new generation of Beetle.

Announced so far only in the U.S., the new Black Beetle Black Turbo has a 2.0 liter engine that develops 200 HP, turbo like the series version of the German model, but comes in addition with larger brake discs, with a retro section the rim, with 18 inch wheels and a rear spoiler. Obviously, the black exterior shade completes the offer.

The launch of the Turbo Black special edition will inaugurate the new preorder service of the Volkswagen USA. Thus, the customers are charged 495 dollars to reserve a Beetle, that amount that will be later deducted from the price of the car when it reaches the dealer. The service was developed in collaboration with Amazon, and the  pre-order will be made ??online.

According to Volkswagen press release, the version is specially prepared for the annual festival where GTI fans gather and was created by the engineers of the sportive R GmbH division. The Golf R Cabriolet Concept is powered by an engine identical to the classic version of the Golf R: 270 horsepower and 350 Nm available at 2500 rpm. The Golf Cabriolet Concept R can sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in less than six seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 km.

Like the series version with classic ceiling, the Golf R Convertible Concept features a sport chassis and a lowered ground clearance by 25 millimeters. The 19-inch wheels called Talladega with size 235 tires hide blue color calipers and a set of performance brakes.

The mechanical modifications include a tuned version of the standard 2L engine on the GTI, so it can provide an extra 25HP, bringing the total for the Edition 35 engine to 235HP. Hopefully this boost in power will also translate in improved performances.

The exterior changes on this model include new alloy wheels, taillights and headlights that are blacked out, tailgate and rear windows which are darkened and a grille that has a black finish that is glossy. You will also notice 35 plates on the front fenders and LED lights for use during daytime.

As for the car’s interior, it comes with the Edition 35 symbol on seats, head rests and door sills. The seats also have an upholstery made out of fabric which has a pattern like a honeycomb. The price of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 will be 30,000 Euro in Germany.

However, between the European version and the American one there are major differences. The United States model measures with 10 centimeters more in length and is also wider.

Although, on the exterior only the grille and the taillights remind that the new model belongs to a different market, the significant changes are observed on the interior, where Volkswagen changed the door panels, the dashboard and the trim level.

The American Passat will be powered by three engines. The propulsion of the entry-level version will be provided by a 2.5 liter petrol engine with five-cylinder capable of delivering 170 HP at 5,700 rpm. With a manual gearbox, the Passat can reach 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. The automatic gearbox will increase this time to 8.7 seconds.

The other version is a petrol engine with six cylinders, of 3.6 liters, capable of delivering 278 HP at 6,200 rpm. Guided by a DSG transmission, the engine can provide a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds.

The American public will get a diesel version, a TDI 2.0-liter engine with four-cylinder common-rail technology capable of delivering 140 HP. The resources are sufficient to ensure an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds. The consumption will stop at only 5.4 liters, and a tank will be enough for 1280 miles. Volkswagen Passat becomes the only model in the segment that offers a diesel option in the U.S. market.

The production of the new sedan will start this summer at the Tennessee factory and will help Volkswagen to cut the costs and to propose an attractive price for the U.S. market, estimated at 20,000$.

The new Scirocco limited edition will be available with all engines on the Sportline equipment, except the 2.0 TSI with 210 HP. Sport Coupe offers a lower price than the Sportline model with 500 euros, providing an advantage for the client up to 2000 euros.

Scirocco Coupe Sport Edition comes with the Sportline equipment, plus a panoramic roof, a reversing camera, Chicago 18-inch wheels, alloy wheels, rear lights on a black background, Interlagos upholstery, like the one on the Golf GTI and GTD, and a series of inserts in the doors.

Like the Volkswagen Golf, the European version of Jetta has a four-arm multilink rear suspension. The American version of Jetta is equipped with a torsion beam rear suspension. Both versions of the Jetta are standard equipped with an electric steering system. The Volkswagen Jetta equipment levels will be still called Trendline, Comfortline and Highline for the European countries. Another difference between the two versions of Jetta is the fact that the European model will have have more facilities for the standard equipment.

The VW Jetta standard version is powered by an 1.2 TSI engine with 105 HP, while the top range has a 2.0 TSI engine with 200 HP. The most powerful version of the Volkswagen Jetta has a 2.0 TDI engine that can develop 140 HP, while the diesel entry level is represented by a 1.6 TDI engine with 105 HP.

To be eligible for the Car of the Year award, a car must be launched in Europe during 2010 and appear on at least two continents until June 2011.

In this year finalists list, the best represented car manufacturers are Citroen and Nissan with three models each (C3, C4 and DS3, respectively Juke, Leaf and Micra). Renault with the Wind is also on the list along with the first Romanian SUV manufactured by Dacia, The Duster.

The standard version of Volkswagen Bluesport will have an 2.0 liters diesel engine capable of producing 179 HP. The Bluesport can be ordered with an 1.4 liters TFSI engine or the 2.0 liters turbo engine and a DSG dual clutch gearbox.

In terms of performance, the Volkswagen Bluesport with the 2.0 liters diesel engine can sprint from 0-100 km/h in about six seconds. The German model will provide Stop & Start technology and its CO2 emissions will be below 120 g/km. The sale of Bluesport will begin in 2013, and the price will be around 24.000 euros.
