Mercedes had no second thoughts when choosing the engine for the SL65 AMG Black Series because the V12 monster is vorthy of any powerful supercar. But even so, it wasn’t enough because under the Black hood there are a pair of turbochargers strapped on. The numbers say that the couple will deliver 670 hp and 738 lb-ft and it’s perfectly capable to propel a two-ton vehicle to 60 in no less than 3.8 seconds.

Folks at Automobile decided to take the Benz on a spin on their dyno and they were very pleased with the result. The Black Series managed to score 573hp at 5300 rpm and 682 lb-ft at 3620 rpm (at the rear wheels) proving its supremacy over the classic S65 AMG. Also, at 5500 rpm BS’ 100 hp and 100 lb-ft over the S65 were triumphal. Congratulations Mercedes for another great vehicle!
