According to some rumors Toyota has recently decided to start shipping their vehicles overseas. The information is not official but Steve St. Angelo, president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky is interested in sending Tundra pickups and Sequoia in other countries. Probably he’s thinking about Asia, Russia and Africa because back there, wealthy people buy big cars.

That’s more than ok for Toyota because their US factories are doing great and now they can send their cars worldwide.

BRABUS Smart Fortwo Wins European Cannonball Run

August 11th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Mercedes Cars

Don’t mistake the European Cannonball Run with the Hollywood comedy with the same name. Nowadays there’s a new rule of the game. It’s more important to finish with a specific average speed than to finish as fast as possible. At the 2008 Cannnball Run the average speed was 61 miles per hour.

It might seem amazing at first but a BRABUS smart fortwo won this year’s race with an average 35 miles per gallon. The drivers were David Ward and Adrian Hull of the UK and we should all congratulate them for their success.

Porsche Cayenne Diesel

August 11th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Porsche Cars

According to some rumors confirmed by Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking, the first diesel-engine by Porsche will be installed under the hood of the 2009 Cayenne SUV.

In translation, this provides no less than 240 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s more than enough for any driver.

Zuffenhausen decided not to spend more money on a Porsche-specific diesel engine but instead they invested everything in a hybrid system that will be hit the roads in 2010 under the name of new Cayenne.

Everything can change until then and there’s a big chance that the prototype’s Ni-based unit will be replaced by a Li-ion battery.

2009 Acura TL

August 9th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Exotic Cars

People from Edmunds Inside Line published on the Internet some pictures of the new 2009 Acura TL. The car features an incredible design called Keen Edge Dynamic that makes the TL look way better than the TSX.

It features a strong grill and the 3.7 liter V6 model can include an optional AWD. The 3.6 liter V6 can handle 280 horses only on the front wheels and both versions use a 5-speed automatic.

It seems like there’s a trend these days that every new entry manufacturer wants to be big and they sell their stuff as the new best thing in the business. We’ll have to wait and see if the Acura TL will be one of them.
