Toyota’s Solar-Powered Car
A few months ago Toyota announced some upgrades on their Prius model: new solar panels to power the air-conditioner. Now, the Japanese automaker is currently working on a full solar-powered vehicle.
The solar panels are placed on the roof of the car just like on a house. For the future, Toyota is planning to supplement power by attaching the vehicle to the solar panels on the roof of homes.
In Japan, the main Toyota headquarters has an area equal with six tennis courts of solar panels on the roof. This means that the energy produced can very easily power up to 500 homes.
Back to the car, according to some official information the Prius will be equipped with the new solar panels by spring 2009 while the full solar powered model is currently under the wrench and hammer.
