Volkswagen Bluesport was first shown to the public at the Detroit Motor Show in 2009. A source within the German company told the journalists from the  AutoExpress magazine that Volkswagen Bluesport is ready to enter mass production.

The standard version of Volkswagen Bluesport will have an 2.0 liters diesel engine capable of producing 179 HP. The Bluesport can be ordered with an 1.4 liters TFSI engine or the 2.0 liters turbo engine and a DSG dual clutch gearbox.

In terms of performance, the Volkswagen Bluesport with the 2.0 liters diesel engine can sprint from 0-100 km/h in about six seconds. The German model will provide Stop & Start technology and its CO2 emissions will be below 120 g/km. The sale of Bluesport will begin in 2013, and the price will be around 24.000 euros.
