For 2010 VW announced on the market a new Touareg BlueMotion Hybrid as part of the BlueMotionTechnologies lineup.

The vehicle will hide under the hood Audi S4’s supercharged 3.0L TSI V6 engine matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 38 kW electric motor powered by a 288-volt nickel-metal hydride battery pack.

If everything goes according to plan, this hybrid system will be also included in the upcoming Porsche Panamera delivering 374 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with these features the new Touareg will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 6.8 seconds and will offer a 26.1 mpg (U.S.) European combined rating.
